Marching Band

The Derwent Valley Marching Band was formed in 1997 to contribute to the bands extensive events and opportunities. The Band welcomes new playing members who are dedicated to memorising charts and are fit and able to march for extended periods.

Since its formation, the DVCB Marching Band has contributed much to the community, marching annually in the Hobart and New Norfolk Christmas pageants, New Norfolk ANZAC Day street march, Derwent Valley Autumn Festival, and opening the Derwent Valley Relay for Life. The Marching Band has also toured internationally, having opened the Showband Marching Championship, competed in the World Championships for Marching Band Show Band (earning 10th place), and was recipient of 1st prize in the March and Standstill competition in Germany in 2015.

Matt Rushworth is the newly appointed Drum Major for 2022, and is working hard to extend players, mastering new formations regularly to create an ever more versatile marching band.

Rehearsals are held at Dominic College on the first Sunday of every month, 10am to 12pm. Please bring along your own instrument.
